For the first time this series, the visiting team was able to come away with the victory.
Jordan Fogerty opened the scoring with his first of the post season in the final few minutes of the first period.
Sarnia carried the lead into the intermission, but it didn't last long after that. LaSalle evened things up with a power play goal in the opening minutes of the second period. They took the lead just two minutes later with a shorthanded tally to give the home team a one goal lead. They would add to the lead midway through the period as Manny Silverio redirected a shot by Shayne Battler to give LaSalle the 3-1 advantage.
Legionnaires would pull within one before the period's end, as Alec DeKoning scored his fourth of the playoffs, with 4:15 left in the 2nd. Nash Nienhuis was credited with the lone assist.
Sarnia pressed for the equalizer early in the third period and was eventually rewarded. Branden Shagena put home the lose put to even up the contest.
That's how things would sit through 60 minutes, tied at three heading into overtime.
Sarnia had their hands full to start the extra period, with Ryan Trottier starting overtime in the penalty box. The Legionnaires were able to kill off the remaining 3:36 in Trottier's high sticking double minor that carried over from the third period.
Trottier would have his redemption later in the extra frame, putting home the loose puck to give Sarnia the 4-3 overtime win.
With wins on back to back nights Wednesday and Thursday, the Legionnaires take a 3-2 series lead into game six Saturday night at Sarnia Arena.
