NHL Playoffs Joe Pavelski scored the winner as San Jose Sharks beat LA 4-3. The Dallas Stars opened their post-season run with a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Jamie Benn scored one goal and set up two more and Jason Spezza had a goal and an assist. John Tavares scored one goal and assisted on two more to power the New York Islanders to a 5-4 win over Florida in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarter-final. And the Presidents' Trophy-winning Washington Capitals have a 1-0 lead over Philadelphia in their series. Braden Holtby stopped 19 shots as Washington blanked the Flyers 2-0.

Claude Julien will remain the Boston Bruins' head coach despite missing the playoffs for the second straight season.

The New York Rangers don't think goaltender Henrik Lundqvist's freak eye injury will keep him out indefinitely. Still, coach Alain Vigneault isn't sure Lundqvist will be ready in time for Game 2 of New York's Eastern Conference quarterfinal series against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

OHL Playoffs Barrie beat North Bay 6-0 to complete the four game sweep, the Colts advance to face Niagara in the Eastern Conference Finals. Mitchell Marner scored three goals as London beat Kitchener 6-4 to eliminate the Rangers in four straight. They now await the winner of the Erie and Sault Ste. Marie series which continues tonight with the Otters leading 3-1.

MLB Josh Donaldson hit a three-run homer and Troy Tulowitzki added a solo shot as Toronto double up New York 4-2. Marcus Stroman pitched eight effective innings allowing just three hits. Jordan Zimmermann pitched six shutout innings as Detroit beat Pittsburgh 7-4. Kris Bryant hit a solo homer as the Cubs clobbered Cincinnati 8-1 to improve to leage best 8-1 on the season. The Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins became baseball's first teams to start the season 0-9 since the 2003 Detroit Tigers. Bryce Harper launched his 100th career home run.

IIHF Canada opens up the World U-18 tournament against Denmark this afternoon in North Dakota. The Sarnia Sting's Jakob Chychrun and Jordan Kyrou are both with the team.

GOLF Canadian teenager Brooke Henderson is five shots back of the lead after two rounds at the L-P-G-A Lotte Championship. Luke Donald and Branden Grace share the lead after the first round of the RBC Heritage golf tournament after shooting 5-under 66 . Graham DeLaet is the top Canadian at two under.

GOJHL The Lambton Shores Predators have named Brian Dobbin as the new Head Coach of the hockey club. The former NHLer played in the OHL with London, and has coaching experience at the OHL and Jr B level. He's also from the Petrolia area.

Some local kids taking part in this weekends GOJHL combine in Kitchener. Alex Cunningham and goaltender Logan Vermunt from the Lambton Jr. Sting Major Midgets will both take part, Cunningham is from Strathroy while Vermunt is from Ailsa Craig.
