NHL Playoffs Tampa Bay is the first team to advance after beating Detroit 1-0 last night to take its series 4-1. (read MORE) Also, Pittsburgh beat the Rangers 5-0 to grab a 3-1 series lead. Anaheim evened its series at two with a 4-1 win over Nashville. Chicago stayed alive with a 4-3 win in double overtime against St. Louis.

The Washington Capitals, Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks can advance to the second round of the NHL playoffs with wins tonight. The Panthers and Islanders play Game five with that series knotted at two games apiece.

MLB The Blue Jays gave up the lead late ad dropped the finale in Baltimore 3-2. (read MORE) They open up a series against Oakland at home tonight at the Rogers Centre. The Tigers lost 4-0 in Kansas City. Another no-hitter for Jake Arrieta as the Chicago Cubs' ace has tossed a no-no for the second time in eight months, doing it in a 16-0 laugher against the Reds in Cincinnati.

IIHF Canada dominated Switzerland to advance to the semi finals at the U-18 World Hockey Championship. (read MORE) Canada will face Sweden in Saturday's semifinals after the Swedes topped Slovakia 7-2 yesterday. Finland and the United States square off in the other semifinal to decide who advance to Sunday's gold medal game.
