MLB The Toronto Blue Jays relief coughed up the lead in the seventh inning against the Chicago White Sox, losing the series opening 7-5. (read MORE) Jordan Zimmermann improved to 4-0 as the Detroit Tigers beat Oakland 7-3. Nathan Eovaldi lost his no-hit bid in the seventh inning but pitched the New York Yankees past Texas 3-1. Chris Archer struck out 10 as Tampa Bay blanked Baltimore 2-0. Rich Porcello and three relievers combined on a four-hitter as Boston shut out Atlanta 1-0.

NBA Playoffs The Oklahoma City Thunder are moving on to meet the San Antonio Spurs in the second round after eliminated Dallas with a 118-104 win. Portland beat the Clippers 98-84 and Charlotte topped Miamia 89-85, both those series are now 2-2.

Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey will be honoured before tonight's Game 5 against the Indiana Pacers at the Air Canada Centre. He has won the Rudy Tomjanovich Award, given by the Professional Basketball Writers Association to an NBA coach who combines co-operation with the media and fans with excellence on the court. NFL A federal appeals court in New York has ruled that Patriots quarterback Tom Brady must serve the four-game ``Deflategate'' suspension imposed by the NFL. The ruling overturns a lower judge and sides with the NFL in a battle with the players union.
