A South African man has won the Comrades Marathon. It's an 89 km race that ends in Durban and there's a 12 hour time limit. David Gatebe's time: five hours and 18 minutes. Four Sarnians completed the race under the 12 hour limit. Timothy Westaway was the fastest of the group with a nine hour and 17 minute time Fred Unternahrer finished in 10:52, Ken Walker in 11:24 and Dick Felton crossed the line at 11 hours, 55 minutes and 59 seconds...just four minutes shy of elimination
