Major League Round Up from August 31

The Toronto Blue Jays kept their two game lead in the AL East with a 5-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday night, taking two of three against the Orioles this week. Aaron Sanchez came up from the minors to earn his 13th win of the season with the Blue Jays. Sanchez surrendered five hits and three walks in six innings of work, giving up just one unearned run. Dioner Navarro singled in his first at bat since rejoining the Blue Jays.

Detroit was able to capitalize on another Baltimore loss, walking off against the Chicago White Sox to pull even with the Orioles for the final wild card spot. Tiger rookie Jacoby Jones hit a walkoff double in the ninth to secure the win.

Hanley Ramirez hit a grand slam to spark Boston to an 8-6 win over Tampa Bay. Former Blue Jay Aaron Hill had the go ahead RBI in the bottom of the eighth for the Red Sox, who strengthened their hold on a wildcard playoff spot

Andrew Toles hit a grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning, helping the Dodgers overcome a six-run deficit in a 10-8 win over the Rockies for a doubleheader split. Trailing 8-2, the Dodgers scored three times in the eighth and added five more in the ninth. Colorado took the first game 7-0.

Rougned Odor homered twice, a day after hitting a game-ending home run, as Texas routed Seattle 14-4. Carlos Gomez connected for a grand slam off Mariners ace Felix Hernandez to help the division leading Rangers complete a three game sweep.

Evan Gattis hit an RBI single to cap a three run rally in the eighth inning that gave Houston a 4-3 win over Oakland. The winning rally was kept alive when Alex Bregman struck out with two outs, but reached base on a wild pitch.

Roster notes:

The Red Sox will add hyped prospect Yoan Moncada to the major league roster prior to a game at Oakland Friday as Boston tries to keep pace with Toronto in the A-L East. The Cuban infielder signed with Boston in February 2015 in a deal that cost the Red Sox $63 million dollars U-S due to a tax penalty on international amateur free agents

The Orioles have acquired outfielder Michael Bourn from the Diamondbacks in exchange for a minor leaguer.
