A pair of Sarnia natives are Sutherland Cup Champions as Caledonia beat London 4-3 in overtime Monday night to take the finals in four games. Corey Pawley had an assist on the winner, he had a point in all but one playoff game, finishing with 58 in 20 games. Nick Zottl, another Sarnia native, scored a goal in the win.
Previous to this season, both players spent time in the OHL, Pawley with London and Kingston and Zottl with Mississauga. Its Caledonia's third straight Sutherland Cup Championship, something that's never been done in the history of the trophy. The Corvairs success has forced the hand of the Ontario Hockey Association, who implemented new rules for next season limiting the amount of 20-year-olds on a team. Petrolia native Brenden Trottier was with London, who won the Western Conference Championships after beating Leamington.
