Jr Sting Set For Playoffs

The Lambton Jr. Sting Major Midgets are ready for playoffs following a three game weekend that saw them pick up four of a possible six points.

They opened the weekend with a 2-1 shootout win over Huron Perth on Friday, their fourth straight game that needed overtime, third straight that was in need of a shootout.

No shootout needed Saturday as they dominated Cambridge with a 7-0 win, before rounding out the regular season Sunday with a 3-0 loss in London.

Despite finish with the second best record in the regular season, Alliance Hockey has the Jr Sting ranked third in their final Major Midget rankings of the season. They're ranked behind London even though they finished with a slightly better record.

The Jr Sting will face Huron Perth in the first round of playoffs beginning Sunday, February 5.

A few other Jr Sting teams began their first round playoff series over the weekend.

Major Peewees tied their series with Sun County at one win a piece with a 4-3 win Sunday. Major Atoms dropped a 5-3 decision to Windsor, tying their series 1-1. The Minor Midgets are 1-1 in round robin play after losing 1-0 to Brantford yesterday. The Major Bantams were eliminated by Sun County
