Pacers Host London In Exhibition Action

Lacrosse returns to the Pt. Edward Arena Wednesday night when the Pacers host the London Blue Devils in their first preseason tilt.

The team is into its second week of tryouts, and General Manager Steve Baker says they're anticipating a very competitive team this year.

"Each year we get one year older and we're starting to come into our prime this year and next year. We were very young last year, even younger the year before, This is a 20-year-old game, and we've had mostly 17 and 18-year-olds in the past."

He expects the team will look much different a month from now, as reinforcements return from school.

"We have about eight guys still away at school, most should be back by end of April or mid May, depends on where they're going to school. That will really help our club once we have our full team." The OLA Jr. B season gets underway Friday, but the Pacers will have to wait about two weeks for their first game. They get their season started in London on April 28th.

Baker says they have a big day planned on May 6th, when the Pacers will host an alumni day at Pt. Edward Arena.

"We sent invitations out to as many former players as possible, we wanted to honour the legacy we have here. We're hoping to have two alumni games, we'll split the guys up into different age groups."

The current Pacers will cap the day off with a home game against Welland at 5pm.
