The Sarnia Braves continue their impressive start to the 2017 campaign, beating the Oakridge Reds 12-2 Thursday night to record their 12th straight victory.
It was another strong outing on the mound for Anthony Shepherd, who gave up a pair of runs in five innings of work. The win improves Shepherd's record to 4-0 on the season.
Julian Service had a couple of big hits, nearly homering for the second straight night. He finished the night with three RBI's on a pair of doubles. Justin Randall picked up three hits and also drove in a pair of runs. The top of the order really led the way, with eight of theirs twelve hits coming from Service, Randall and Wade Babula.
As a team, Sarnia recorded 12 hits and nine walks. That is plenty considering the pitching performances Thursday night.
After another strong start from Anthony Shepherd, Nick Baljeu and Alex McLean went the rest of the way combining for three innings of shutout baseball in relief. Baljeu struck out four in two innings of work, while McLean struck out two of the three batters he faced in the final inning. Baljeu, McLean and Shepherd combined to give up just three hits in the victory.
Up next for the Braves, they are in Strathroy Sunday for a match up against the always tough Royals at 1pm.
