Fazio signs in Austrian Hockey League

Sarnia native and former Sting goalie Justin Fazio has found a new home.

He's signed on with HC Bolzano Foxes of the Austrian Hockey League where he's expected to back up Leland Irving.

The 22-year-old helped Queen's University win the uSports championship last season for the first time in 38 years. He posted a 13-4-0 record with a 2.50 goals against average and .936 save percentage.

Fazio has also spent time with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, and Milwaukee Admirals, and in the ECHL with the Reading Royals.

He said he's excited for the upcoming season. "I can't wait to fully experience my experience in Bolzano," said Fazio.

"The objective is undoubtedly to win the championship and I will give my best to help the team reach it. I am very happy to start my professional career in a high level league like the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. I know we have a great team and I'm ready to start."

Over four seasons with the Sting, Fazio posted a 92-62-10-3 record with a 3.26 GAA and .900 save percentage.

Fellow former Sting players Kevin Spinozzi, Domenic Alberga, and Jamie Arniel are also on the HC Bolzano squad.
