Sting extend win streak in Kingston

The Sarnia Sting extended their win streak to five games with an impressive 7-4 victory over the Frontenacs in Ontario Hockey League action Friday.

Veteran forward Jamieson Rees led the way with three goals and an assist.

Linemates Anthony Tabak had two goals and two assists and Sean Josling had a goal and four helpers.

Josling has 18 points in the win streak and is now tied for the OHL scoring lead with Sudbury's Quinton Byfield with 27 points each.

Captain Ryan McGregor completed the scoring for Sarnia.

Lucas Rowe tallied twice for Kingston with singles going to Zayde Wisdom and Jordan Frasca.

Tabak said the whole team contributed the win.

"We played a full, hard 60 minute game," said Tabak. "We kept the turnovers down and really hemmed them in their own zone and capitalized."

16-year-old rookie Benjamin Gaudreau stopped 40 of 44 shots for Sarnia for his third straight win while Brendan Bonello turned aside 31 Sting shots.

Sarnia led 2-0 after the first period and 4-2 following the second.

The Sting end their 3-game road trip in Ottawa Sunday at 2 p.m.

The pregame show starts at 1:35 p.m. on 103.9 FM - 1070 AM CHOK.
