The Sarnia Legionnaires fell to the Chatham Maroons 5-2 Thursday night, the club's 11th loss in 12 games.
Legionnaires netminder Brenden Stroble faced 64 shots and Brayden DeGelas and Ryder Nienhuis each scored in the loss.
The visiting Maroons got off to a hot start with a power play goal 49 seconds into the game. Chatham made it 2-0 at 7:35 on a goal from Cameron Welch. DeGelas got Sarnia on the board with a power play goal at 15:32 and the Maroons led 2-1 heading into the second period.
Nienhuis tied the game just 23 seconds into the middle frame, but the Maroons answered right back with a goal at 1:58. Chatham added a power play goal at 18:22 and lead 4-2 after 40 minutes.
The road team kept up the pressure in the third period, outshooting Sarnia 22-6 in the frame and 64-21 overall. The Maroons increased their lead to three at 13:40 with another goal on the man advantage. Chatham netminder Luka Dobrich didn't allow a goal the rest of the way to help preserve the win.
Legionnaires head coach Derek DiMuzio said it was a disappointing loss.
"Once we established how to play and the guys made a quick adjustment, I thought we played well five-on-five, [but] we need to be ready from the puck drop," he said. "We play [Chatham] again on Saturday and we need to be ready right away because we know how they're going to play and we can't be making adjustments after we tell guys the strategy prior."
The Legionnaires have six games remaining on the season and are currently ninth in the GOJHL's Western Conference, eight points back of a playoff spot.
