Legionnaires find new head coach from within

The Sarnia Legionnaires didn't have to look far to find their new head coach.

On Thursday, the club announced the promotion of assistant coach Brian Irwin to the head coaching role.

Irwin joined the hockey club for the 2022-23 season under former head coach Derek DiMuzio, who stepped down in March.

In a social media post, the Legionnaires said Irwin has over 20 years of coaching experience, and that he's a passionate leader with superior communication skills who has a history of developing strong relationships with his players.

Irwin spent the 2021-22 season coaching the Lambton U18 AAA team.
