The Sarnia Sting managed to tame the Flint Firebirds in the latter half of Saturday's game.
Sarnia's Zach Filak had a three-point night, with a goal and two assists in his 150th OHL game.
Filak got both of his assists in the first period. Down 1-0, his first came on a short-handed goal for Marko Sikic. The second was just over two minutes later, on a goal from defenseman Lukas Fischer.
Flint's Jimmy Lombardi had his first-ever OHL goal with less than 30 seconds left in the first, to tie up the game 2-2.
Daylen Moses broke the tie early in the second period, with what would ultimately be the game-winning goal. Filak then piled it on, scoring with just over five minutes left in the period.
The Firebirds outshot the Sting 8-4 in the third period, but Sarnia's Easton Wainwright was the only one to find the back of the net.
Moses and Wainwright both had multi-point nights, with one goal and one assist each.
Both teams made it into the double digits when it came to penalty minutes, with multiple roughing, tripping, and high sticking infractions.
Sting goaltender Karsen Chartier earned second star of the game, saving 22 of 24 shots on net.
Filak was the game's first star. Flint's Lombardi was third star.
Sarnia doesn't play again until after the Christmas holidays. The Sting will host the London Knights on Thursday, December 28 in the first half of a home and home.
