Sting lose big to Saginaw

It’s a game the Sarnia Sting are going to want to forget.

They were in Saginaw on Saturday to take on the Spirit and ended up losing 9-3.

The onslaught began in the first period with Saginaw scoring four goals. They came from Jacob Cloutier, Joey Willis, Zayne Parekh, and Nic Sima.

The Sting did get 11 shots in the period but weren’t able to score against goalie Kaleb Papineau.

The second period was much better for Sarnia as they scored three goals of their own.

The first came from Beckham Edwards with Mitch Young and Easton Wainwright getting the assists. Young scored the second goal unassisted before Edwards got his 2nd of the game with the helpers going to Young and Tyson Doucette.

The only problem is Sarnia also gave up two goals in the period. Willis got his 2nd of the game before PJ Forgione would find the back of the net.

The third period was much like the first as all the goals came from Saginaw. Willis got the hat-trick before goals from Kristian Epperson and Carson Harmer.

With the loss, Sarnia’s record drops to 7-11-1-3, while Saginaw moves to 12-8-1-0.

The Sting’s next game is on Sunday, November 17, at home against the Kitchener Rangers.

You can catch the action live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
