When Rico Harris Capocci died suddenly, he left behind nine children, including Noah, a member of the LaSalle Guardians U12 basketball team.
Saying no family should have to face a heartbreaking loss alone, the team has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for the Harris Capocci family.
"Rico was a loving father of nine children, and his sudden passing has left an enormous void in the lives of those who loved and depended on him," read the online campaign. "During tragic times like this, we believe it is important for a community to come together and surround a family with love, compassion, and support. For the Guardians, being a team means so much more than basketball."
The team is asking the community to donate to support the Harris Capocci family.
"Anyone who is able to please come together and help support the Harris Capocci family during this incredibly difficult time," continued the campaign. "Every donation, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burden on the family as they grieve and begin navigating life after such an enormous loss."
So far, the campaign has raised $6,547 of its $18,000 goal.
