CFA President, Ag Minister Say Collaboration Is Key To Unlocking Potential Industry Growth

Leaders of various farm groups from across the nation met in Ottawa last week for the Canadian Federation of Agriculture's Annual Meeting.

Agriculture and Agri-food Minister Lawrence MacAulay gave the opening keynote address and emphasized how important it is for farm organizations and governments to work together.

Votes were also cast during the conference and Ron Bonnett was re-elected President.

He agrees with the federal Ag Minister that collaborating to address key obstacles is needed for a sector that is primed for considerable growth.

Bonnett also said that the next few months will be focused on the goals and objectives needed for the new CFA strategic plan.

The CFA notes members also had the opportunity to discuss international trade concerns with Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade Palmela Goldsmith Jones, who spoke on the latest CETA talks and other current trade negotiations.

The federation points out those who couldn't make the annual meeting in person can now watch the webcast on its website, www.cfa-fca.ca.
