The Town of Lakeshore is looking to hire a realtor to help sell off the Puce Sports and Leisure Centre.
It's looking for at least $500,000 from the sale but town staff believe the building and the land could be worth over and above $1-million. The town did not receive any bids on the building when they attempted to sell the property on its own.
Sarah Ilijanich was hoping to negotiate the sale of the property before the town hired a realtor to continue to operate the Lakeshore Academy of Fine Arts in the space. "It's just really unfortunate that they can't see the future and really support the arts. They've spent $60-million on a sports complex, I'm not even asking for any money I'm just asking for them to help support the arts."
Ilijanich put forward a proposal to purchase the building for $300,000 that was not considered by council or administration. She could still have the opportunity to purchase the building through a realtor but she says she is now seriously considering other options.
