Looking For Job Creation Specifics

The City of Windsor wants to know more about what it's getting for the money it spends on the Windsor-Essex Economic Development Corporation.

Windsor Council is giving $1.2-million to WEEDC this year.

Mayor Drew Dilkens says councillors at this week's budget meeting didn't hear specific job numbers and metrics from the corporation. "It is challenging. I worked in economic development for a few years in a past career. I know it's challenging to measure. But we maybe need to find those benchmarks and those measurables so that members of council have a strong sense that they're getting good value for those dollars."

WEEDC CEO Sandra Pupatello will be invited to speak to council again in March to provide stronger statistics and evidence of job creation through economic development.

Another $1.2-million will come out of Essex County's budget to fully fund the corporation for 2015.
