Engaging Amherstburg Online

The Town of Amherstburg wants to get residents involved in its budget process via social media.

Administration will be setting up Twitter and Facebook accounts, where it hopes to create discussions after its budget is tabled on February 23.

CAO John Miceli says council understands that most taxpayers like to get information in real time, and communicate online. "We're just looking at every avenue that we can explore to get community consultation and community input on the decisions going forward in this town."

Miceli says the town will post its Twitter handle and a link to its Facebook page on the Amherstburg web site as soon as everything's up and running.

A social media policy is also expected to be developed for the town at a later date.
