A Windsor man, considered a "high risk traveler," is wanted by the RCMP after allegedly flying to Syria to join the Islamic State.
Mohammed El Shaer, 27, was first charged for making false statements to obtain a passport back in June of last year. He missed court dates in August and September before turning up at Toronto's Pearson International Airport in November, where he was arrested.
El Shaer plead guilty to passport fraud among other charges in December and was released from prison in January. He was ordered to not re-apply for a passport or any other travel documents without the permission of the Minister of Immigration and Refugee, but RCMP say he's left the country, so a warrant's been issued for his arrest.
A tweet, showing El Shaer travelling to Syria with fellow Windsorite Ahmad Waseem surfaced, and reports say Waseem is also wanted by Canadian authorities, however the RCMP is offering no comment regarding him.
