Windsor beer drinkers will not be walking the streets of Sandwich Towne with alcoholic beverages in hand this St. Patrick's Day.
The Sandwich Towne BIA has decided against barricading an area where patrons can walk and drink between bars.
Dominion House Owner Kristian Niell says it mainly comes down to the fact that it's a Tuesday. "The police wanted us to close it at 4pm after the schools had let out, for safety reasons, which was fine. But there is a lot of cost behind it as well, between fencing, security, and things like that. So for a one-day event, it's very tough for us to come up with that capital."
Sandwich St. had been closed between the Dominion House and Brock St. on St. Patrick's Day for the last two years.
The City of Windsor says there are no planned closures on any of its streets for St. Patrick's Day, while Windsor police plan to staff today as if it were a Friday or Saturday.
