Amherstburg Chamber Backing Budget

The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce is lending its support to administration's proposed 2015 budget.

Past-President Scott Deslippe says the chamber went over the budget with senior staff at the town and approves.

"The increases that administration is proposing are definitely necessary to set this town on the right direction," says Deslippe. "Although none of us want to pay more money, it's kind of a necessary increase."

Chamber President Chris Gibb is also confident about the proposed budget.

"Maybe if we bite the bullet in one or two years, we can actually be moving forward and be a success story in the County of Essex, rather than what we've been so far," says Gibb.

Three more days of budget deliberations are being scheduled. The 2015 budget proposed a combined 9.2% tax increase.
