A former Essex mayoral candidate is facing sanctions after spending more on his campaign than allowed.
Bill Baker says he went over the $21,000 limit by $300. "After we did the audit, it was determined I spent $300 over the limit, which is unfortunate, but I take full responsibility for that."
The spending limit is determined by a formula based on the number of electors in the town.
Because of the finding, Baker can't sit on any town committees and won't be allowed to run in the next municipal election.
