UPDATE: Workers Approve Collective Agreement

Unionized workers at Windsor Machine and Stamping have approved a new four year collective agreement.

During a ratification vote Sunday morning, 72.5% of workers voted in favor of the agreement.

Unifor Local 444 was recently certified to represent 200 workers at the plant that makes components for head and arm rests for General Motors, Ford and Chrysler vehicles. The two sides had been in negotiations since January.

Local President Dino Chiodo says the two sides also agree on most of the non-monetary issues, such as working conditions, seniority and postings.

"From a monetary perspective, obviously wages become a component. Pensions become a component. Job security is an important initiative. So, those are some of the things we'll be focusing on as well," he says.

On Friday, the union announced it had reached a tentative deal for workers via their Facebook page.
