Special Olympics Ontario is getting $30,000, thanks to students and police officers taking a dip in frigid waters.
The Polar Plunge was hosted by St. Clair College and the Windsor Police Service back in February, and Police Chief Al Frederick is delighted with how much money it raised.
"I'm chair of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police committee for the Special Olympics and Law Enforcement Torch Run, so it's near and dear to our hearts, and has been ever since 2009 when we hosted the Summer Games here in Windsor," says the chief.
Frederick hopes the plunge can become an annual event, raising funds for the Special Olympics, at St. Clair's main campus in Windsor.
