More Protests Against Sex Ed

Protesters have taken their complaints about Ontario's new sex ed curriculum to the office of the Greater Essex County District School Board.

Wednesday's demonstration is the second in two days against the changes that will teach students starting in grade one about the concept of consent and the appropriate names for their genitalia. Over 100 parents and children protested the changes outside Northwood Public School Tuesday morning.

The protesters say the curriculum teaches kids too much too soon and complain there wasn't enough consultation with parents.

Board spokesman Scott Scantlebury says the demonstration is peaceful and respectful. "We support their right to demonstrate for something they believe in. Absolutely."

Many parents across the region and the province are keeping their kids home from school this week to protest the changes. Tens of thousands have signed a petition calling for the Wynne government to rethink the curriculum.
