The 28th annual LaSalle Strawberry Festival is a family affair for many in attendance this weekend.
The Szpak family has been coming since it began in 1987. Suzanne Szpak says her son Travis won first place in the baby contest when he was nine months old -- he's ten years old now.
"I started coming here with my mom and my dad and my brothers, then eventually it blossomed to my sister-in-laws and their kids and now I'm bringing my son," says Szpak.
Troudy Clark comes every year all the way from Burlington to watch her granddaughter compete in the pageant. "Last year's she came in second, so she's doing really, really well," says Clark. "I love it. I come all the way from Burlington to see her, so how much better can it be than that?"
Admission is $3 and runs Friday 3pm until midnight, Saturday 9am-12am and Sunday 9am-5pm.
