Despite appeals from downtown residents and business owners, Amherstburg's Mardi Gras party will go as planned.
Concerned community members were at council Monday, looking to have entertainment end earlier than 11pm during the two-day festival.
Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says discussion became heated at times. "Everyone's very passionate about trying to do what's best for the town. When you have people disagreeing about how we're going to do that, the passion comes through."
Promoter Ian France was also at the meeting. DiCarlo is confident organizers will try to stick to the 11pm curfew. The Mardi Gras party will go July 24 and 25 in downtown Amherstburg.
