The Town of Lakeshore is looking to put up a new breakwall at Lakeview Park, extending from the beach, in order to keep swimmers separated from boats.
Mayor Tom Bain says an environmental study is being done for the 125 m (410 ft) structure this summer.
"We're looking at making it wide enough and putting barrier fences on both sides so people can stroll out into the water by being on top of the deck. And there will be numerous spots along the way where we'll build out farther, and you can sit down."
Bain expects an environmental report, as well as design and price options, to come before Lakeshore Town Council in a couple of months.
