The Tomato Capital of Canada lived up to its name with Leamington's annual Tomato Festival this weekend.
Both new and returning festival-goers were pleased with what this year's event had to offer.
Festival Chair Mike Ciacelli says they adjust aspects of the festival based on years prior. "Sunset had the introduction of the slicing competition which was big for us. We also had the ambassador program to augment not having the pageant."
Despite Heinz being out of Leamington for years now, patrons still believe there's a place for the festival. Melissa is one of them. "It shouldn't matter that they're gone, it should continue. We are the Tomato Capital of Canada."
Organizers estimate around 6,000-7,000 people attended the festival throughout the weekend.
