Windsor's Downtown Mission will soon be staying open 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
It's part of an expansion of services, according to Executive Director Ron Dunn, which will include a new dinner program.
"We're calling it 6 o'clock soup and it will be representative of a light meal. The real catalyst is to make it a 24-hour facility."
Dunn hopes restaurants will sponsor the meals, which will be served to 250 homeless people per night. "Right now we close at 3 o'clock and then reopen again at night for those people who need to spend the night. It's those hours in between that have always been problematic and we're looking alleviate those problems."
The changes at the mission come into effect October 1st.
