After 29 years of serving Windsor-Essex, the Men United For God Food Bank is holding its first ever food drive and fundraiser.
Volunteer Norma Payne says they help between 800 and 1,300 people every week, and the demand is increasing.
"Last year, I think there was around 800 new people that came in for food, and I know this year it's even more than that," she explains.
The goal of this drive is to collect as many non-perishable items as possible, but also to raise $40,000 in order to feed the homeless and with assist with the bank's operating costs.
The Men United For God Food Bank is located at 343 Wyandotte St. W., in Windsor. Donations are also being accepted at Mario's Barbershop at 315 Wyandotte St. W., and Victoria's Flowers at 212 Erie St. W.
The food drive and fundraiser runs until tomorrow, and again Wednesday to Friday next week.
