Windsor's downtown business association and police are trying to ease the public's concerns after a spike in shootings in the city.
Constable Andrew Drouillard with the Windsor Police Service says the city has seen a 10% downward trend in violent crimes over the last five years.
"Drugs are being taken off the street, guns are being taken off the street," says Drouillard. "When things like this happen we act quickly, we allocate resources quickly and as you've seen in the past week, we identify people quickly and we've been very successful."

Larry Horwitz, president of the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association, called the Friday afternoon news conference in response to concerns from downtown merchants. He's concerned media misconstrued the shootings as all happening downtown, telling reporters to "get their story straight."
Police have made an arrest in connection with the latest shooting in the city while continuing to track down the suspect in the downtown shooting in the early hours of Monday morning. An arrest was also made after a shooting incident earlier this month.
