Medical marijuana producer Aphria is being recognized as an innovator, taking home the innovation award at the Leamington Business Excellence Awards on Wednesday night.
Aphria CEO Vic Neufeld says the company humbled by the Innovator Award.
"We like to think that medical marijuana truly is innovative in terms of health and wellness and alternative treatments," says Neufeld. "For Aphria, we're quite proud at what we've been able to accomplish right here in Leamington, Ontario — our home community."
Neufeld feels the company isn't done innovating.
"Given that oil extraction has been legalized by Health Canada, the innovation opportunities — they're not endless — but they're very much a game changers for us," says Neufeld.
Domino's CEO Michael Schlater won the Alf Bennie Award for outstanding Leamington business person.
Blackburn Radio morning team on Mix 96.7 Jay Marchillo and Morgan Ryan hosted the even put on by the Leamington District Chamber of Commerce celebrating 21 years of business excellence.
