Auto Supplier Gets Global Boost

A local auto parts supplier is getting provincial dollars to help compete on the world stage.

Ground Effects supplies aluminum parts to many major auto makers .

Vice President of Business Development Ben Dollar says the $760,000 government grant will help create 31 new jobs.

"Money is going to be used for the development and the preparation for manufacturing roof rack systems for General Motors," he says. "We have plans to also work with Toyota motor manufacturing, Fiat-Chrysler, Nissan and perhaps others."

The money will help pay for new equipment and automation. Officials say this will allow the company to fulfill a GM contract for roof racks.
