The Lou Romano Water Reclamation Plant's grit removal system is being renovated due to clogging issues.
The $7.4-million investment will ensure grit, inorganic material such as sand and gravel, doesn't damage equipment.
Windsor's Manager of Pollution Control Paul Drca says the system is overdue for refurbishments.
"It's just getting old," says Drca. "Equipment's wearing out and needs to be replaced so we're increasing the capacity of that system."
The plant's manager, Chris Manzon, says the project will be completed in late 2016.
