Kids waiting for a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters after school program in Windsor-Essex are getting a boost.
RBC is donating $5,000, which goes to help kids ages six to 15.
Foundation Executive Director Hayley Morgan says the program focuses on basic social skills.
"They learn a lot about cooperation, team building, conflict resolution, healthy living and lifestyle as well and self-esteem," she says.
Some kids stay on the wait list longer than others.
"Right now we're in need of more big brothers versus big sisters, which is typical of our program," Morgan says. "We can always use some men who want to come forward and be volunteers in our program."
The agency relies heavily on sponsorships and donations to continue helping the 700 children. Money goes towards transportation for the kids, a healthy dinner and activities.
