No Tax Increase in Tecumseh

Residents in Tecumseh will see a 0% tax levy increase in 2016.

Council accepted the 2016 budget with close to $14 million in capital projects at a special meeting Monday night.

"It took hard work over many years to get us here. With our life cycling program and out asset management program that we put in place," says Tecumseh Mayor Gary McNamara. "It's a huge attraction for new development coming into the community and knowing that fiscally, not only this year but moving forward we're actually building now special reserves for any new assets that are coming."

The town will see a reduction of 25% for OPP costs because of the new funding model that was put in place in 2015. Service enhancements like increased hours in some recreation facilities and a new position in the CAO's officer were also included in the budget.
