The property tax bill is going up 2.3% for residents in Lakeshore.
Town council approved its 2016 budget Tuesday night. The increase works out to another $54 a year for the average home valued at $200,000.
Mayor Tom Bain says a quarter of spending will help support continued residential growth.
"We're building over 200 homes a year and we certainly, as far as what's being scheduled, are probably going to top that again for 2016," he says.
The budget also includes money to hire 70 new lifeguards at the Atlas Tube Centre when its pool opens, spending to pave gravel roads and $6-million for police and fire services.
Meanwhile, Amherstburg continues to work on its 2016 budget.
Mayor Aldo DiCarlo says the operating budget is set, but the council is still chipping away at the capital budget. The draft document called for a 2.1% increase next year.
The capital budget is up for discussion Wednesday and next Monday night, councillors will discuss nine new hires.
