More Homes Being Built In Lakeshore

The Town of Lakeshore is expecting more single-family homes to be built after issuing over 200 building permits so far this year.

Mayor Tom Bain says it's a good sign for the town's health.

"To accomplish over 200 is certainly very encouraging for our continued growth and the fact that we really have about three subdivisions in the waiting for next year," says Bain. "You have to go back a number of years to see those kind of numbers. At one point we had 400 [permits issued] one year, but the last ten years or so accomplishing 200 was a goal that we set for ourselves."

Administration reports 211 building permits for single-family homes have been issued as of November 30, 2015.

Bain adds it isn't just in home builds the town is seeing more activity.

"We're seeing a spin-off in the commercial and industrial areas where we're seeing small growth there which is very encouraging because it helps with the tax base," says Bain.
