Lakeshore Looks Ahead In New Plan

The Town of Lakeshore has adopted a new five-year Strategic Action Plan to guide growth over the next 15 years.

The plan covers infrastructure and needs for development growth, job attraction, transportation, promoting the town and financial stability.

Mayor Tom Bain says it calls for the hire of four new positions including a new financial officer.

"That person will be hired going into 2016," he says. "Part of that is going to be our asset management plan that is going to be necessary for all municipalities and certainly to work on growth in our reserves."

Bain says council wants to make sure the town is ready for future growth, especially since some projections estimate the population of Lakeshore will grow to more than 59,000 by 2031.

"We feel very strongly that if we're going to continue to grow it's got to be a team effort."
