Councillors Hope To Save School

Councillors in the Town of Amherstburg are hoping they can convince the Catholic School Board to keep St. Bernard school open.

St. Bernard is one of many schools currently being evaluated under the current accommodation review process.

"There would be quite a few sacrifices. It disrupts families and disrupts cultures and it's just a sad thing when any school closes. So if we can do anything to keep St. Bernard's open then that's my wish," says former school trustee Councillor Joan Courtney.

She says it would be ideal to keep both a public and Catholic school within Amherstburg proper.

The school's enrollment is down to almost 50%.
