The Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association is looking for support for its petition to reinstate one-hour free parking in downtown parking garages.
The one-hour of free parking was removed as part of the 2016 City of Windsor budget. The budget also increased parking at metres by 25 cents.
DWBIA Chair Larry Horwitz says council has created deterrents for retailers to come downtown.
"Why would you come downtown? What incentive is there? The taxes are higher, the utilities are expensive. What are we doing in this city, like other cities are doing, to create a downtown that's pedestrian friendly, that attractive?" asks Horwitz.
The petition can be signed online and will be presented to councillors in an attempt to encourage them to reverse the decision.
