Leamington District Memorial Hospital is collaborating with a Detroit-area tech company on a robotic bed that's expected to improve patient care.
The project has been in the works since February of last year.
KAREtech Medical Devices has now secured a global provider in custom fabrication called Uni-Fab, to develop its first prototype.
LDMH's Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive Cheryl Deter says, "Given our small and efficient size, LDMH is well positioned to support entrepreneurs and innovators. Our scale is conducive for a ground base of adaptability."
Aside from this project, the hospital says it's engaged in discussions with other innovators and organization in Ontario and the United States to help them elevate healthcare in a rural setting, without having to invest in bricks and mortar solutions.
