The Windsor Fire and Rescue Service says on Saturday around 6pm, fire crews responded to the blaze on the third floor of Marine City Apartments located at 1666 Ouellette Ave.
Fire officials say the fire was caused by unattended cooking and was quickly extinguished.
No one was injured in the fire and damage is pegged at around $50,000.
The man was charged in March with sexual assault offences.
Both couples won in the April 11 draw.
