UPDATE: Hospital Relieved After Lawsuit Decision

Windsor Regional Hospital is thrilled that its mega-hospital project can move forward, even though it's still being sued for $10-million.

GEM Properties, who finished second in the site selection process, is claiming its 77-acres on Tecumseh Rd. E. rated higher than the O'Keefe farms on County Rd. 42.

The company had ordered an injunction as part of the suit, which would have put the project on hold, but decided to lift that today, as well as drop any charges against the O'Keefes.

"Even though, overall I'm still not pleased that they sued, I have to give them some credit to state what they did state and recognize that this is the right thing to do for the Windsor-Essex community," says Windsor Regional Hospital CEO David Musyj.

Musyj adds that he's relieved and can again see a clear path the the project's next stage now.

As for the $10-million, he's leaving that up to the courts to resolve, and is hopeful the entire thing will eventually be dropped.
