Spitfires To Retire Ellis' Jersey

The Windsor Spitfires will honour former player Ryan Ellis at their game against the London Knights Saturday night.

Ellis played for the team for four years from 2007-2011 and won two Memorial Cups with the team.

"Every year had something special to it but I think winning was obviously the top of the top, what everyone is aiming for. But I made a lot of good friends, a lot of good memories here and it's nice to be back," says Ellis.

Ellis' number six jersey will be retired and hang in the rafters of the WFCU Centre among the jerseys of Bill Bowler, Ed Jovanovski, Steve Ott and Adam Henrique.

"There's some great people up there, great players, there's a lot of great players that have come through this league. To go up in Windsor Spitfire's history, it's a great organization with some great people in it," says Ellis.

The defenceman was drafted in the first round in 2009 by the Nashville Predators where he continues to play.
