Work is underway at the WFCU Centre in Windsor to install a new community pool.
Pieces of the pool arrived from Italy over the Christmas break and project consultant Don Sadler expects to have the panels installed by the end of February. He says the piping will go in next and then they'll pour the concrete for the pool deck.
"We've committed to turn it over to our recreation section for August 1," says Sadler. "I expect we'll have water in it and doing some testing by mid-June or early July."
The pool will open to the public in August, in time for the 2016 FINA World Swimming Championships in December.
The 25 m pool will have six starting blocks and a 1 m diving area. A therapy pool will be heated to 34 C (93.2 F). There will also be a splash pad. The main and therapy pools will be fully accessible with ramps.
Sadler says the $7.5-million project is on schedule and on budget.
